idfend Verashield is designed for single or multiple domain environments and integrates directly with the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) through the use of snap-in components. The idfend Verashield system provides biometric authentication using facial recognition on top of the existing password protection provided by the standard Windows logon.

idfend Verashield augments Windows Logon using our advanced face tracking and recognition technology, providing both convenience and additional security.
idfend Verashield:

  • Provides integrated logon functionality for PCs running Windows operating systems
  • Re-authenticates the user each time the interactive session requires a password
  • Allows the use of face recognition in conjunction with, or instead of, a logon ID and password
  • Preserves user account and password information, so users can still log on using just these two pieces of information at lower security thresholds
  • Provides domain-based biometric logon security and continuous security monitoring - even while the computer is disconnected or operating remotely from the domain
  • Uses MMC snap-in components customized for the biometric security layer, allowing LAN administrators to use standard MMC forms to set all logon and continuous security monitoring options independently for each user

In compliance with standard Windows operating procedures, the idfend Verashield system allows a user to logon to any computer within the network domain, using biometric authentication.

The only noticeable difference to the user is the live video embedded within the standard logon creens. In addition, the idfend Verashield system provides several optional features for continuous security monitoring (CSM) while the user is logged on to the network, including:

  • Shutdown following failure of facial authentication (customizable by period and number
    of authentication attempts)
  • Immediate shutdown on user absence
  • Immediate shutdown on detection of multiple individuals (faces)
  • Immediate shutdown on detection of a denied user (denied user may be anyone
    registered within a domain)

The "shutdown" options for CSM include:

  • Shutdown
  • Log Off
  • Lock
  • Hibernate

The MMC snap-in components customized for the idfend Verashield facial biometric security layer allow the LAN administrator to set all idfend Verashield and CSM options independently for each user (using standard MMC forms). The LAN administrator can either deny or allow individual users to customize their own security level settings. The idfend Verashield system is integrated with the Windows Event Viewer and associated event logging so that all biometric security operations pertaining to idfend Verashield and CSM triggered shutdown events are logged and retrievable by time/date, user, computer and event type.
